The Pottsville Crimson Tide will head out on the road to face off against the Blue Mountain Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Pottsville comes in on nine and the Eagles on four.
Pottsville put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 63-43 margin over Panther Valley. Given Pottsville's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while the Panthers are ranked 385th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pottsville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Derek Watkins led the charge by scoring 12 points. Kole Becker was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
In what's become a running theme this season, Blue Mountain gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 78-47 victory over Jim Thorpe on the road.
Pottsville has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Blue Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 18-2.
Pottsville was able to grind out a solid win over the Eagles when the teams last played back in January, winning 61-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pottsville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
