The DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals will square off against the Moniteau Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (DuBois Central Catholic has three straight victories, Moniteau has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
If DuBois Central Catholic beats Moniteau with ten runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Cardinals came out on top against Brockway by a score of 10-7 on Monday.
Carter Himes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Himes was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Zatsick, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Marek Hoyt, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
DuBois Central Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brockway only posted an OBP of .364.
Meanwhile, Moniteau didn't have quite enough to beat Karns City on Monday and fell 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warriors have suffered against the Gremlins since May 3, 2021.
Moniteau saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Beau Stewart, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
DuBois Central Catholic pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Moniteau, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
