The Allendale Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Montague Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Allendale will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
On Tuesday, Allendale got the win against Cedar Springs by a conclusive 17-7. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won nine matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Lexie Gunter was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 11 contests. Another player making a difference was Tessa Gunter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Allendale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Montague was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Fruitport, falling 17-4. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 2, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Montague saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Boutell, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Allendale is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Montague, their loss dropped their record down to 6-17.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Allendale hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .374. However, it's not like Montague struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
