The Columbus Cardinals were the 57-43 winner over the Edna Cowboys when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Columbus received a tough blow on Wednesday as they fell 56-41 to Edna.
Despite the loss, Columbus had strong showings from Karlee Mathis, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Sage Thomas, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Mathis has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.
Columbus' defeat dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Edna, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-5.
Columbus will take on Rice Consolidated at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rice Consolidated is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for Edna, they will head out on the road to take on Hallettsville at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hallettsville will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
