With a playoff game on the line, the Casteel Colts rose to the challenge on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past O'Connor 38-35. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Braden Greene had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 53 receiving yards. Greene really tore up the turf during one magnificent 85-yard run. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Newcombe, who threw for 150 yards and a touchdown while completing 76.9% of his passes.
Defeat or not, O'Connor got some senior leadership from Nathan Bayus who rushed for 59 yards and four touchdowns and Kaden Armstrong who rushed for 158 yards on only 14 carries.
Casteel now has a winning record of 6-5. As for O'Connor, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-6.
Casteel will face off against Brophy College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Brophy College Prep will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. O'Connor does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
