Green Mountain is a perfect 10-0 against Wheat Ridge since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. Green Mountain found their leader in sophomore Ella Cockrum, who went 5-for-11 on her way to 14 points along with seven assists and five steals. The dominant performance gave Cockrum a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Herrig, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 10 points.
Green Mountain was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Wheat Ridge played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by D'Evelyn 68-15. The Farmers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-4.
They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Kailey Mason and Julie Jackson, who each put up four points. Sky Copeland held things down on the boards with six rebounds.
Green Mountain pushed their record up to 20-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.2 points over those games. As for Wheat Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-20.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's game: Green Mountain has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 35.5% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Wheat Ridge, though, as they've only made 12.8% of their three-pointers this season. Given Green Mountain's sizable advantage in that area, Wheat Ridge will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Green Mountain against Wheat Ridge in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 63-22 victory. In that match, Green Mountain amassed a halftime lead of 41-5, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
