The Queen Creek Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Casteel Colts at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Queen Creek is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
On Thursday, Queen Creek got the win against Desert Ridge by a conclusive 14-6.
Queen Creek let Tait Reynolds and Jet Berry run wild. Reynolds got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Berry went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Reynolds has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Gamboa, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Queen Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Casteel faced Hamilton in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Colts wound up with the same score they had in their last game (9-5), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
Casteel saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Russell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs. Jose Bingochea was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Queen Creek pushed their record up to 17-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Casteel, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-8 record this season.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Queen Creek hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Casteel struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
