Mercy proved they can win big  last Monday (they won by seven) and  on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  7-6  victory over the Holy Cross Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  win the Jaguars have posted  since April 16, 2024.
Mercy got a great performance from  Lyla Ballou as she  tossed five innings while giving up just two earned  (and two unearned) runs off   six  hits. What's more,  Ballou posted five  strikeouts, the most she's  had since back in April of 2024.
 On the hitting side,  Allie Streble was  excellent,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4.  Emerson Shively was another key player,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.

 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercy will head out to  take on Sacred Heart  at 5:30  p.m.  on Monday. As for Holy Cross, they will venture away from home to  face off against Eastern  at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday.
