The Riverview Raiders will square off against the Springdale Dynamos at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Riverview has three straight wins, Springdale has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Springdale's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Riverview hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Raiders' pitcher stepped up to hand Brentwood an 11-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Johnny Bertucci was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Bertucci was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Eli DeVita was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Lukas Duncan, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Riverview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Bishop Canevin hit Springdale with a six-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dynamos lost 11-1 to the Crusaders.
Springdale saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Wylly, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Riverview's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Springdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Riverview's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Raiders have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Springdale, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Riverview continue to outrun the ball?
Riverview took their win against Springdale when the teams last played back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 10-1 score. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dynamos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
