Cascades recap Oct. 23, 2012
Grass Lake extended the longest winning streak in Cascades this week by beating Leslie, 28-14. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Michigan Center took down Quincy 49-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Dylan Zaborowski threw for 61 yards and one touchdown and ran for 35 yards in the win.
Donnavon Belcher made the biggest impact on defense this week as East Jackson fell to Union City. The 6-foot-1 senior forced one fumble and recorded one fumble.
Hunter Coolbaugh put up the best numbers through the air as the Trojans lost to the Chargers. He finished with a total of 10 completions for 111 yards and one touchdown. Coolbaugh's favorite target this week was James Snider, who caught four passes for 39 yards.
Jared Bruner was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 38 carries, he ran for 221 yards as Addison beat the Orioles. Teammate Trevor Maynard added to the ground attack by rushing for 11 yards.
Dowding was the best wideout in the league this week as Michigan Center defeated Quincy. Dowding racked up two receptions for 39 yards. Jeremy Schweda helped Michigan Center's passing attack out by catching two balls for 22 yards.
Grass Lake's Logan Konopka and Jared Lazarz have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Cascades in both passing and receiving yards. Konopka has thrown for 941 yards this season, while Lazarz, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 23 catches for 446 yards. The Panthers' Bruner leads the league in rushing yards with 1213.
