Freedom Christian Academy is a perfect 10-0 against Northwood Temple Academy since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Patriots will host the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Freedom Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
Freedom Christian Academy proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 13) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mercyhurst Prep, sneaking past 5-4.
Alonzo Webster made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Webster wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Graysen Stafford, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Meanwhile, Northwood Temple Academy hadn't done well against Fayetteville Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Warriors. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.
Landon Kay and Jaden Vogt did most of the damage at the plate: Kay went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Vogt went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave Kay a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lathen Hairr, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three runs and one stolen base.
Northwood Temple Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Freedom Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Northwood Temple Academy, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Freedom Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Northwood Temple Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Freedom Christian Academy took their victory against Northwood Temple Academy in their previous matchup on April 4th by a conclusive 17-3 score. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
