Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the St. Thomas Catholic Eagles, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 40-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers on Friday. St. Thomas Catholic's loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.
St. Thomas Catholic's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Johann Cardenas, who rushed for 60 yards and three touchdowns. Cardenas hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Luke Edgecomb, who picked up 117 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Maddux Reid continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Parish Episcopal, rushing for 193 yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Sawyer Anderson, who threw for 154 yards and a touchdown.
St. Thomas Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 12-1. As for Parish Episcopal, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.
St. Thomas Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Parish Episcopal also has no future games currently scheduled.
