Basketball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Summit Academy's Tenth in Last 13 Outings

Summit Academy won the last time they faced Inwood Academy and things went their way on Saturday too. The Summit Academy Eagles put the hurt on the Inwood Academy Trailblazers with a sharp 51-29 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Leading Summit Academy to victory were Alana Rivers and Amerie Santana. Rivers dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Santana dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rivers has scored at least a third of Summit Academy's points. Skyla Lawrence was another key player, putting up four points and ten boards.

Summit Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Summit Academy has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.5 points per game. As for Inwood Academy, they moved to 10-2 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Summit Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 48-35 win against Brooklyn Prospect on the 26th. As for Inwood Academy, they will venture away from home to square off against Percy Sutton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Inwood Academy's defense has only allowed 20.8 points per game this season, so Percy Sutton's offense will have their work cut out for them.
