Baseball Recap: Verrado Extends Winning Streak to Four

Verrado waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the North Canyon Rattlers 11-1. The Vipers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Colton Zacher, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Gutierrez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Verrado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Canyon only posted an OBP of .222.

Verrado's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for North Canyon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Verrado is taking a road trip to face off against Buckeye at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for North Canyon, they will take on ALA - West Foothills in a tournament on Friday.
