The third road contest was the charm for the Rivermont Collegiate Lions, as they earned their first road win of the season. They walked away with a 33-26 win over Morning Star Academy on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Rivermont Collegiate also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Eamon Matlock was his usual excellent self, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Soulaymane El Jerari, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Rivermont Collegiate is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. As for Morning Star Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Rivermont Collegiate will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Quad Cities Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Morning Star Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Tri-State Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Iowa (Tri-State Christian is ranked 444th, while Morning Star Academy is ranked 458th).
