The Thompson Tommies lost against the Des Lacs-Burlington Lakers back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Thompson was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to Des Lacs-Burlington. Thompson has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Thompson's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Drew Overby, who scored 18 points. The match was Overby's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karter Peterson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Thompson's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Des Lacs-Burlington, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thompson won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Stanley at 12:30 p.m. on December 30th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Dakota (Stanley is ranked 36th, while Thompson is ranked 30th). As for Des Lacs-Burlington, they will play host again and welcome Beulah, where tip off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Beulah will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
