The Corcoran Cougars fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Central Square on Friday and snuck past 20-18. For Corcoran, this counts as revenge for the 25-16 defeat Central Square walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2017.
When it comes to explaining why Central Square lost, one person who can't be blamed is Anthony Miga. Despite the final result, he threw for 84 yards and three touchdowns. Evan Smith also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Corcoran's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 28.0 points per game. As for Central Square, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Corcoran will take on Whitesboro at TBD on Friday. Whitesboro has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 397 points over their last eight games. Central Square does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
