The Stratford Spartans and the East Nashville Magnet Eagles squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Stratford Spartans had to settle for second. Stratford ended up on the wrong side of a rough 40-14 walloping at the hands of East Nashville Magnet. Stratford has not had much luck with East Nashville Magnet recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Stratford lost, one person who can't be blamed is Justyce Law. Despite the final result, he rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns.
East Nashville Magnet got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Martez Lamb out in front who rushed for 25 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 121 yards and a touchdown while completing 80% of his passes. Kelan Anderson also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Stratford to a paltry 239 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to East Nashville Magnet's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out four times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Ladonnis Mcglothen jr. and Malik Bolling who racked up four sacks between them.
Stratford has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for East Nashville Magnet, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Stratford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. East Nashville Magnet will play host again and welcome Liberty Creek, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberty Creek is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
