C1 District 5 recap October 22, 2013
Boone Central/Newman Grove added to the longest winning streak in C1 District 5 this week by beating Lakeview, 48-21. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Scotus took down Madison 47-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tony Zoucha ran for 128 yards and caught 1 pass for 37 yards during the win.
The Shamrocks' dynamic duo of Grant Lahm and Zoucha proved tough for the Dragons to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lahm threw for 37 yards and 1 touchdown and Zoucha had 37 yards receiving.
Mitch Sander was a key player and the best on defense this week as David City lost to Wayne. He grabbed 1 sack.
Jesse Windham was a passing and rushing force as the Scouts lost to the Blue Devils. Windham's key target this week was Sander, who caught 3 passes for 30 yards.
The Vikings' Jack Shadley and Mark Jarecki have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Shadley has thrown for 531 yards this season, while Jarecki has 10 catches for 176 yards. Scotus' Zoucha leads the league in rushing yards with 601.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Lakeview takes on Roger Krienke's team. Kurt Frenzen's team is in second place, while the Shamrocks are in third place.
The league will see a high scoring game when the Vikings and Scotus face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Lakeview comes in having scored 267 this season, while the Shamrocks have scored 192. The Vikings scored 21 points last week as they fell to Boone Central/Newman Grove.
The Cardinals led C1 District 5 in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on Lakeview.
