The Union City Chargers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pennfield Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Union City and six for Pennfield.
Union City suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Concord, falling 74-39. While losing is never fun, Union City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 622nd, while Concord is ranked 235th).
Union City's defeat came about despite a quality game from Adalynn Rumsey, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rumsey has scored all season. Calli Wilkinson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Pennfield, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 39-22 loss to Coldwater on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Pennfield has scored all season.
Union City's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Pennfield, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
