The East Wake Warriors entered their tilt with the C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons with 11 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 12. East Wake walked away with a 63-51 victory over C.B. Aycock on Tuesday. Given East Wake's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while C.B. Aycock is ranked 357th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading East Wake to victory were Nikel Rogers and Jamal Taybron. Rogers scored 18 points along with two steals, while Taybron dropped a double-double on ten points and ten assists. Another player making a difference was Corban Woodard, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, C.B. Aycock still got an impressive performance from Zimere Mcclarin, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Aaron Joyner was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.
East Wake's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.4 points per game. As for C.B. Aycock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.
East Wake will be playing in front of their home fans against West Johnston at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. West Johnston has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 635 points over their last ten contests. As for C.B. Aycock, they will be playing at home against South Johnston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Johnston will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something C.B. Aycock surely won't give up without a fight.
