The West Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a rough 77-54 loss at the hands of Central Valley Christian. The game was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly West struggled afterwards.
Defeat or not, West got some senior leadership from Jaiyon Dixon who scored 18 points along with six assists and six rebounds and Fred Stokes who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Stokes scored a full 27.8% of West's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Tracy Herring was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Even though they lost, West were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central Valley Christian only racked up 19 assists.
Central Valley Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carter Hiemstra, who scored 23 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Hiemstra scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Aj Johnson, who scored 27 points.
West has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Central Valley Christian, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
