Trico has gone a perfect 5-0 against Marissa/Coulterville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Pioneers are taking a road trip to face off against the Meteors at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Trico blew Goreville out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Goreville got their revenge. The Pioneers fell just short of the Blackcats by a score of 14-12. The Pioneers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Emma Williams stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Aubrey Cotter also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.
Meanwhile, Marissa/Coulterville got the win against Gibault Catholic on Thursday by a conclusive 12-1. Considering the Meteors have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Analiese Howell was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Kennedy Trieb was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Maci McLaughlin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Marissa/Coulterville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Trico, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Everything went Trico's way against Marissa/Coulterville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Trico made off with a 6-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
