Softball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Wheeler's 12th in Last 14 Outings

While Wheeler put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Tremont. Wheeler put the hurt on Tremont with a sharp 12-0 victory. Wheeler might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by nine runs or more this season.

Marli Kate Shockley made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Kate Beckham, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Shaw, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Wheeler has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Tremont, they dropped their record down to 7-11 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Coming up, Wheeler will square off against East Union at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.8, the Urchins 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Tremont, they will challenge Shannon at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles are facing the Red Raiders at the right time seeing as the Red Raiders are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
