Midland Trail extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 10-12 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gilmer County Titans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 on Monday.

Nevaeh Hall made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Raelyn Morris, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
As for Gilmer County, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.
On Gilmer County's side, Kenley Hartshorn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Emeri Hickman was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Alexis Stoddard was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Coming up, Midland Trail will venture away from home to face off against Parkersburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gilmer County, they will face off against Doddridge County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans are on a 14-game streak of home wins, the Bulldogs a four-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
