The Harrison Raiders are taking a road trip to take on the North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Harrison will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
While Harrison's victory against McCutcheon wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Raiders had just enough and edged out the Mavericks 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raiders have posted against the Mavericks since May 30, 2022.
The result came thanks to Chase Gothrup's shutout, as he gave up just three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nolan Hodnett, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
Danville hit North Montgomery with a four-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chargin' Chargers lost 9-2 to the Warriors. The loss continues a trend for the Chargin' Chargers in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost four in a row.
Cade Cole and Aiden Ambriz-Cruz did some serious damage despite the final result: Cole went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double, while Ambriz-Cruz went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Harrison's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for North Montgomery, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Harrison hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. However, it's not like North Montgomery struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Harrison came up short against North Montgomery in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 9-4. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
