The Ste. Genevieve Dragons will venture away from home to square off against the North County Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ste. Genevieve will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Ste. Genevieve is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Potosi by a score of 7-4 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Dragons have won by exactly three runs.
Noah Willett was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Ottens, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Ste. Genevieve was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but North County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past Fredericktown 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raiders have posted since May 10, 2024.
Will Weible was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because North County is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise. Weible was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he brought in this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kendrick Simon, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Tim Ekstam Jr, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Ste. Genevieve pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for North County, their record now sits at 5-6.
Ste. Genevieve was able to grind out a solid victory over North County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 9-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dragons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
