Adams Central and Minden are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The Patriots will take on the Whippets at 12:55 p.m. on Saturday.
Adams Central is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Fairbury just ended the team's three-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Jeffs by a score of 3-2.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Abigail Paradies, who had 11 digs and seven aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Smith, who had 31 assists and four digs.
Meanwhile, Minden waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Jeffs by a score of 3-1.
Minden had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-19, 26-24, 25-15.
Adams Central better keep an eye on Makenna Anderson. She was instrumental in Minden's win, getting 16 digs and five assists. That's the most digs Anderson has posted over her last six contests.
Minden was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in three consecutive matchups.
Minden's record now sits at 25-8. As for Adams Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-9.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's match: Adams Central has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.1 aces per game. However, it's not like Minden struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.8 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
