Sheboygan North extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-10 in the process. They fell 6-3 to the Green Bay Preble Hornets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golden Raiders of the 10-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.
Alonzo Pena spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Mark Williams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Brett Rybarczyk also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
As for Green Bay Preble, their record is now 9-3. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
On Green Bay Preble's side, Peyton Kuehn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 13 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave Kuehn a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other pitching news, Dallas Rady looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.
Back at the plate, David Petasek was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sheboygan North will head out to challenge De Pere at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Green Bay Preble, they will square off against Bay Port at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
