Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vero Beach). They came out on top against the Somerset College Prep Academy Spartans by a score of 49-40 on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Vero Beach was led to victory by Jazmyn Morris and Zy?Noria Ferguson. Morris almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards, while Ferguson went 7 of 11 on her way to 16 points and five rebounds. Ferguson is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Shanya Wynn, who posted eight points.

Vero Beach smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since the start of last season.

Despite the defeat, Somerset College Prep Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Khloe Rodgers put up 27 points along with seven steals and three blocks. That was a full 67.5% of Somerset College Prep Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Kaysha Felix was another key player, putting up six points along with nine rebounds and eight steals.

Vero Beach's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-6. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Vero Beach didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 58-34 defeat against Martin County on the 16th. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-49 win against Oxbridge Academy on the 17th.
