It was a good run, but the Pine Hill Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 41-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Quemado. Pine Hill lost against Quemado in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 42-38 score last time.
Despite the loss, Pine Hill still got an impressive performance from Virances Martinez, who scored 16 points along with four steals. The contest was Martinez's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Leilani Charley, who scored five points along with five rebounds.
Pine Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Quemado, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pine Hill will finish 2023 at home by hosting Tse' Yi' Gai at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Quemado won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Alamo Navajo at 4:00 p.m. on December 22nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Alamo Navajo is ranked 73rd, while Quemado is ranked 57th).
