Meanwhile, St. Joseph's Prep suffered their biggest loss since May 18, 2025 on Saturday. They came up short against Malvern Prep, falling 14-1. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Hawks, who until this contest were averaging 3.59 runs allowed.
St. Joseph's Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Matthews, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Devon Prep pushed their record up to 5-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for St. Joseph's Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Devon Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like St. Joseph's Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Devon Prep skirted past St. Joseph's Prep 1-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Do the Tide have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
