The Clinton Christian Academy Patriots struggled with assists on Thursday (the Christian Learning Center Mustangs had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Clinton Christian Academy took a hard 45-27 fall against Christian Learning Center. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Clinton Christian Academy in their matchups with Christian Learning Center: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, Clinton Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Clara Hyke, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. Hyke is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Carissa Compton was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Leading Christian Learning Center to victory were Callie Trezona and Rylie Allen. Trezona scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, while Allen almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine assists. It was the first time this season that Allen posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Micah Bean, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Clinton Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Christian Learning Center, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
Clinton Christian Academy will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Plaza Heights Christian Academy at 10:30 a.m. on February 10th. Hopefully Plaza Heights Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Thursday. Christian Learning Center's road trip will continue as they head out to face Heartland at 3:00 p.m. on February 10th. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Christian Learning Center: 27, Heartland: 28.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
