The Thomson Bulldogs had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.1 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They really took it to Glenn Hills for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-8 victory at home. Considering Thomson has won six contests by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Thomson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan(JRock) Lane led the charge by picking up 82 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Anthony Jeffery, who gained 69 total yards and two touchdowns.
Thomson's win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Glenn Hills and 1-8 Josey (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 25.8% over those games). As for Glenn Hills, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Thomson will head out on the road to face off against Westside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Westside will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 314th, while Thomson is ranked 114th). As for Glenn Hills, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Laney at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Laney will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
