The Anaheim Colonists will head out on the road to challenge the Costa Mesa Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Anaheim put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 54-21 win over Loara. The Colonists have beaten the Saxons the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Saxons has come to flipping the script.

Xavier Aviles
| 10/03/25 @ Loara | 3 |
| 09/05/25 @ Rancho Alamitos | 1 |
| 08/29/25 vs Katella | 1 |
| 11/15/24 vs Arrowhead Christian | 1 |
| 10/25/24 @ Bolsa Grande | 1 |
Anaheim's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Xavier Aviles, who picked up 94 receiving yards and three TDs, and also threw for 55 yards and one touchdown. Those three receiving touchdowns gave Aviles a new career-high. Jacob Campos was another key signal caller, throwing for 146 yards and three TDs.
Anaheim's run defense was locked in: Loara could only muster 2.5 yards per carry. While two picked up at least nine total tackles, Aviles stood above the rest. He picked up 94 receiving yards and three scores, and also threw for 55 yards and one touchdown. Anaheim didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.4.
Anaheim's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Joshua Meza Zavala was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Meza Zavala is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Costa Mesa and Santiago meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Mustangs blew past the Cavaliers, posting a 42-14 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-0.
Anaheim better focus on containing Gavin Garza and Andrew Waiss as the pair were huge in Costa Mesa's win. Garza rushed for 226 yards and four scores while picking up 10.3 yards per carry, while Waiss rushed for 146 yards and a pair of TDs. Waiss really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.
The win got Anaheim back to even at 3-3. As for Costa Mesa, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Everything went Anaheim's way against Costa Mesa in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Anaheim made off with a 28-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colonists since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
