Basketball Recap: Collin Melvin Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Benedictine

Bay saw some tournament action on Friday. They walked away with a 61-51 victory over the Benedictine Bengals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Collin Melvin, who en route to 20 points and six boards. Thanks to that strong game, Melvin now owns an excellent 40.8% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Tommy Mack, who to rack up 12 points and seven rebounds.

Bay was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Benedictine had strong showings from Tyree Williamson, who on his way to 15 points, and Bryce Meitin, who posted 16 points. Meitin has become a key player for Benedictine: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least 15 points, but 3-12 otherwise. Gio Ramos was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

Bay now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Benedictine, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

Bay has already played their next matchup, a 57-54 defeat against Jefferson Area on the 25th. Benedictine does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
