The Milton Eagles waltzed into their contest on Friday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They came out on top against South Forsyth by a score of 53-42. Given Milton's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the War Eagles are ranked 142nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Milton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nya Smith, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. Smith is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 16 every time she's taken the court this season. Caroline Young was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Milton pushed their record up to 20-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for South Forsyth, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.
Milton will head out on the road to take on the at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Forsyth, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Forsyth Central has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 29.
