After two games on the road, Pinecrest is heading back home. They will take on the Scotland Fighting Scots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pinecrest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while Scotland is ranked 112th).
On Tuesday, Pinecrest ended up a good deal behind Lee County and lost 61-46.
Meanwhile, Scotland entered their tilt with Union Pines with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Scotland managed a 47-41 victory over Union Pines on Friday.
Alicia McClain was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. McClain is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Morgan Thompson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six assists and four steals.
Pinecrest has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Scotland, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2.
Things could have been worse for Pinecrest, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-43 loss to Scotland in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Thompson, who scored 31 points along with five assists and four steals. Now that Pinecrest knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
