Piedmont Hills is 2-8 against Christopher since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Pirates will be playing at home against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Piedmont Hills will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Piedmont Hills' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. Everything went their way against Oak Grove as they made off with a 15-0 win. Considering the Pirates have won ten matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Camila Delgado Yescas and Ava Martinez made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Delgado Yescas tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Martinez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. At bat, Delgado Yescas went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Martinez went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most runs Delgado Yescas has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Michelle Torres was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Paskert, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Piedmont Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Grove only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Christopher was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They came up short against Live Oak, falling 12-1. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Melissa Lugo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Piedmont Hills pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Christopher, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Christopher's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Piedmont Hills has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .441. It's a different story for Christopher, though, as they've only averaged .353. Will they be able to contain Piedmont Hills' hitters?
Piedmont Hills was able to grind out a solid victory over Christopher when the teams last played back in March, winning 7-4. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
