Those seven passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Hernando's leading receiver Kamoni Dotson was Saltsman's top target yet again, picking up 240 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Weeki Wachee hadn't done well against Crystal River recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hornets strolled past the Pirates with points to spare, taking the game 36-20.
Weeki Wachee had a senior duo take command as Leelen Wright gained 146 total yards and three touchdowns and Richard Hanshaw threw for 103 yards and a pair of TDs. Wright's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 119 rushing yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Weeki Wachee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 225 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 225 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.
Weeki Wachee didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Keavin Moss and Josiah Ojeda.
Weeki Wachee's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Hernando, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Hernando has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 167.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Weeki Wachee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 202 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
