The Hartford Huskies will face off against the Marcellus Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Marcellus will be up against a hot Hartford squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Huskies blew past Bangor 9-1 on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Marcellus had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Rangers with a sharp 13-3 victory.
Parker Adams made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Abram Coffey was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last 14 matches. Brock McWilliams was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Marcellus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cassopolis only posted an OBP of .235.
Hartford pushed their record up to 10-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Marcellus, their win bumped their record up to 16-4.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hartford has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .504. However, it's not like Marcellus struggles in that department as they've averaged .478. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hartford suffered a grim 12-5 defeat to Marcellus when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Huskies have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
