On Monday, the Eastern Ramblers faced the Jackson-Reed Tigers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Eastern took a serious blow against Jackson-Reed, falling 85-48. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Eastern has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Eastern lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rashid Faruq. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points. The contest was Faruq's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Isyah Joyner was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
This is the second loss in a row for Eastern and nudges their season record down to 4-2. As for Jackson-Reed, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern will face off against Ballou at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ballou has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 176 points over their last three games. As for Jackson-Reed, they will head out on the road to face off against Dunbar at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Dunbar focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday.
