Cessi Prince looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Taylor Codi was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Tori Codi was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.
Archbishop Spalding always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Leonardtown's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Chesapeake 1-0.
Not much got past Claire Radford, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Chesapeake off the board.
At the plate, Leonardtown secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Vanessa Brooks, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Archbishop Spalding pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Leonardtown, their record is now 10-1.
Saturday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Archbishop Spalding hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .381.
