Lanier hasn't had much luck against Highlands recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Voks will be playing at home against the Owls at 10:45 a.m. Lanier has given up an average of 12.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lanier came up short against Seguin on Tuesday, falling 19-3.
Lanier saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jesal Reyes, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Highlands). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Edison a 15-0 shutout on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Owls in their matchups with the Golden Bears: they've now won four in a row.
Jenesis Rodriguez and Ciera Garcia made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Rodriguez pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Garcia didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. At the plate, Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Garcia went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs. Those three hits gave Garcia a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Analia Aparicio, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Karyssa Walker, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Highlands kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Highlands' win bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Lanier, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
