After a string of six wins, the Millbury Woolies's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Shepherd Hill Regional by a score of 56-54. Millbury lost against Shepherd Hill Regional in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 53-51 score last time.
Despite the loss, Millbury still got an impressive performance from Kenny Donnelly, who scored 21 points. Jimmer Donnelly was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Millbury's loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-1. As for Shepherd Hill Regional, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Millbury has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Grafton at 6:30 p.m. on January 8th. Grafton is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Shepherd Hill Regional, they will be playing at home against Wachusett Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wachusett Regional will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings (they are ranked 159th, while Shepherd Hill Regional is ranked 36th).
