Poly and Valley View are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Bears will face off against the Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Poly barely beat Orange Vista the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bears put the hurt on the Coyotes with a sharp 11-5 win on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Bears, who have now won three games in a row.
Marley Audoma spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Violet Espin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Karly Romero, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Poly hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Valley View came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Bulldogs 16-1. Valley View's win was all the more impressive since the Bulldogs were averaging only 3.64 runs allowed on the season.
Valley View got a massive performance out of Alyssa Torres, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run and four runs. Another player making a difference was Maddie Barrios, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Poly's record is now 17-6-1. As for Valley View, their record now sits at 18-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Poly hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Valley View struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Poly couldn't quite get it done against Valley View in their previous meeting on April 3rd as they fell 6-2. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
