The Charlestown Townies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 32-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brighton. Charlestown was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Brighton apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.
Brighton can attribute much of their success to Jai? Reona Brown Carter, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lizbeth Santiago, who scored six points.
Charlestown bumped their record down to 0-1 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.3 points per game. As for Brighton, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charlestown will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on East Boston at 4:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Brighton will be home for the holidays to greet Kennedy Health Careers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
