South Pontotoc fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Caledonia on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They came up short against the Caledonia Cavaliers, falling 9-3. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Sammy Terry spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, South Pontotoc saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haylee Phillips, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

South Pontotoc's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Caledonia, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3-1.

Looking ahead, South Pontotoc will take on Eupora at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Caledonia, they will face off against Louisville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
