Nouvel Catholic Central added to the longest winning streak in Freelance this week by beating Marlette, 49-27. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Panthers.
Sault Area moved up to 179 from 235 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Blue Devils climbed the ranks as a result of topping Ionia 42-18.
Raynell Anderson provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Sault Area defeated the Bulldogs.
Anderson was a force in the backfield as Scott Menard's team defeated Ionia.
Michael James and Anderson gave the Blue Devils a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. James threw for 50 yards and 1 touchdown, while Anderson ran for 292 yards. Justin Delisle also contributed to the rushing game with 118 yards on the ground.
Chavez Academy's Omar Salih and Nate Drew led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Salih has thrown for 3,305 yards this season, while Drew has 70 catches for 1,379 yards. Sault Area's Anderson leads the league in rushing yards with 1,644.
In 104 carries Austin Brown has put up 906 yards this year.
The Blue Devils made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,069 from 6,550. The improvement was the result of a 42-18 victory over Mike Holes' team last week.
