The Thomas Jefferson Vikings will square off against the John Marshall Justices at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Thomas Jefferson turned things around against Armstrong on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 11-7.
Markus Ingram made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Those 16 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Graeme Cox, who fired off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Thomas Dejnozka, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Thomas Jefferson lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, John Marshall made easy work of Richmond High School for the Arts on Monday and carried off a 16-1 victory. Considering the Justices have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Thomas Jefferson, John Marshall also got a great game from a two-way player: Brandon Coley-Davis. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Coley-Davis was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of John Marshall's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-5 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Oscar Carroll and Jamarques Singleton-Davis did most of the damage at the plate: Carroll got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Singleton-Davis got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Singleton-Davis has become a key player for John Marshall: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Brice Johnson was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Thomas Jefferson's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for John Marshall, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Thomas Jefferson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like John Marshall struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Thomas Jefferson came out on top in a nail-biter against John Marshall in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Justices turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
